Early life
Khan was born into the Royal Family of Pataudi. Both her father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the current Nawab, and paternal grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, are former captains of the Indian cricket team. Her mother, Sharmila Tagore, is a film actress and a distant relative of Bengali Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Her brother Saif Ali Khan is also a Bollywood actor and her sister Saba Ali Khan is a jewellery designer. She attended The British School in New Delhi and Balliol College, Oxford and earned a Masters degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political ScieBefore embarking upon her film career, Khan worked for the Ford Foundation and Citibank. She is involved in a range of activities outside the acting world, including serving on the Advisory Board for a new project of the public entrepreneur group, Res Publica. She has also recently modeled for the spring-summer collection of Globus, an Indian chain of boutiques.
Khan made her acting debut with the Bollywood film Dil Maange More 2004 where she shared credits with Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and Tulip Joshi. She has since received critical acclaim for her performances in the Bengali film Antar Mahal 2005 Rang De Basanti 2006 Khoya Khoya Chand, earned her critical acclaim, although it was not successful at the box office. In 2009, she appeared in 99, which was a critical and commercial success and her performance was acclaimed. Her next release was Tum Mile opposite Emraan Hashmi. Although a box office failure, Khan received positive reviews for her performance. Her upcoming release include Mumbai Cutting. Khan also hosted a show called Godrej Khelo Jeeto Jiyo on Star Plus.

Kaif was born in Hong Kongto an Indian Kashmiri father Mohammed Kaif, and an English mother, Suzanne Turquotteboth of whom are British citizens. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Kaif stated once, "my dad, unfortunately, and not out of choice, has had no influence on our upbringing, on our religious or social or moral bearings Kaif has seven siblings. From Hong Kong, she and her family moved to China, then to Japan. Then from Japan by boat to France when she was 8, and also moved to Switzerland, Kraków, Berlin, Belgium, and many other East European countries where she and her family were there for a few months eachThen they moved to Hawaii, and eventually later moved to her mother's home country, England. It is widely speculated that Kaif is from London, when in fact, she only lived there for three years before finally moving to Mumbai
Career
Kaif began her modeling career at the age fourteen; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London under a contract with the Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked on the London Fashion Week
Kaif's London modeling-work led to her discovery by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom 2003. She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi
